Sage Ellenwood
Seventh Grade Science Teacher
Sage Ellenwood completed his undergraduate degree in psychology and child development at Michigan State University. He worked in youth mental health for five years before getting his masters in education. He taught in Oakland for eight years, founding and running the maker space at his school, coaching his team of business students to a win at state championships, building a tiny home, and starting a school garden. Throughout Sage’s career he has taught and developed a wide range of science and engineering classes as well as fashion, cooking, philosophy, and robotics! His business entrepreneurship course (BUILD) was used as a model to develop a national program blending product design and business. He has also mentored new teachers through the process of clearing their teaching credentials. Sage joined the BPC faculty in 2023 and loves teaching middle school and supporting his students in their discovery of science and finding joy in learning. When Sage is not teaching or mentoring you can find him playing board games with his friends, reading, rock climbing, or traveling the world with his wife and daughter.
